Gummy Bear Breast Implant Gaining Approval

There is a new type of breast implant on the market which has been gaining approval around the globe. Gummy bear implants are one of the latest in technological advances in breast augmentation. These devices have already gotten the green light in European countries as well as in Canada. American individuals are intrigued with the new devices, too.

Breast augmentation surgery continues to be one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures on the market. Many women of all ages and situations desire a fuller bustline in order to enhance their overall figure and shape.

Currently, the implants on the market are filled with either silicone or saline solutions. Saline is actually a type of salty water similar to what the human body is comprised of naturally. This is a plus for those individuals who would like to stick to more natural approaches but the saline products are reportedly a bit firmer than some individuals would hope for. The silicone products offer a softer feel which more closely resembles natural glandular tissue.

The products named after gummy bears have their pros and cons as well. The cons may include that they have a slightly firmer feel than human flesh. The pros include that they are made from a silicone material which is bound together scientifically in order to be safer in case of rupture. They are currently undergoing clinical trials in the United States of America and so far the news is positive. Gummy bear breast implants may be the next most common enhancement option around.

According to recent study conducted by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, many women are turning to plastic surgery to keep their career edge during this economic downturn.

The ASPS conducted a recent telephone interview of 756 women between the ages of 18 and 64. These women indicated a strong belief that cosmetic improvement through plastic surgery procedures can not only boost self-confidence, but can give that extra edge needed to win jobs, promotions and clients.

According to the study:

*73% believe undergoing cosmetic procedures could help them in their careers.
*13% said they would consider undergoing a cosmetic procedure to improve their competitive edge in the workforce.
*3% said hey have already undergone a cosmetic procedure for career purposes.

Many career women are seeking procedures that restore a more youthful, energetic look to the face, such chemical peel procedures, botox or laser resurfacing. What is Body Dysmorphic Disorder?

For many, the topic of plastic surgery brings to mind images of those who seem addicted to cosmetic procedures we've seen and read about in the media. From celebrities such as Michael Jackson to guests on television shows like Dr. Phil, we've seen that a form of plastic surgery addiction is out there and worry about what that might mean.

The "addiction" is caused by Body Dysmorphic Disorder, (BDD) a psychological condition causing men and women to become preoccupied with slight physical defects, either real or imagined. Though most of us have a few physical features we don't necessarily like, maybe even feel somewhat ashamed of, those with Body Dysmorphic Disorder become preoccupied by the perceived flaw, exaggerating it in their minds, sometimes making it difficult for them to socialize, maintain relationships, or even leave their house in some very extreme cases.

Though the appropriate treatment for BDD is still unclear, a combination of medications and cognitive behavior therapy is often used. It is clear, however, that plastic surgery does nothing to solve the problem. Instead the patient either continues to focus on the same perceived flaw even after surgery, or shifts their preoccupation to new defect.

The majority of those seeking plastic surgery, however, have a clearer perception of their appearance. They live full, relatively happy lives but wish to change some aspect of their appearance. Though plastic surgeons are not psychologists trained to diagnosis psychological conditions, they can thoroughly discuss with a potential patient what a cosmetic procedure can realistically achieve. If you are considering cosmetic surgery and believe you are a good candidate, Murrieta plastic surgery specialist Dr.Eichenberg will happily consult with you to explore your options.
