Breast Cancer Awareness Goes One Step Further

An estimated 3 million women are living with breast cancer in the United States, and 2 million have been diagnosed. That means at least 1 million breast cancers have not yet been discovered - one of the reasons this remains the number one cause of death in woman around the world. Breast cancer awareness goes one-step further in an attempt to educate and save more women from this dreadful disease.

It seems the Pink Campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness is going to a new level ...

Garth Brooks has just joined forces on the pink campaign. Garth Brooks new 3 disc set up is dedicating $10 from each new album sale. This is a special edition release specifically to help improve breast cancer awareness in the public eye.

Avon has also responded to the cause with their own pink breast cancer awareness campaign. They've put together several walks for breast cancer including the walk around the world campaign.

Having a pink party seems to be the latest craze. In the UK last year, more than $200,000 was raised thanks to pink parties. You can have a fancy dress party, a karaoke party, or even a pajama party. You decide. There are no rules. It's all about fundraising.

Pink ribbons, pink jewelry, pink clothing - you name it, it seems to be on the market. Many retailers are joining the cause and are donating a percentage of their profits on these items. It's all for the cause and in hopes of a cure.

As more and more people jump on the bandwagon to support the "pink," not only are the amount of funds raised being taken to a new level, awareness continues to grow. And with knowledge comes power to reduce and someday eliminate breast cancer.

A Modern Day Miracle – Breast Augmentation

In 2004 just under 12 million women in America had some type of cosmetic procedure to enhance their body, self-esteem, and even their personality. Let’s face it - plastic surgery is a modern day miracle, and that includes breast augmentation.

Thankfully, we no longer have to live with that crooked nose or that saggy tummy that’s left over from pregnancy, nor do you have to settle for the breasts you were born with. This modern day miracle called plastic surgery can do a lot for you!

If you are considering a breast augmentation or any other type of plastic surgery for that matter, it’s important that you do your homework about the surgeon you are considering. There are many professional, board certified plastic surgeons out there, and sadly, just as many that are not. So be careful and be sure with your selection.

Of all the plastic surgeries done, breast augmentation is one of the most popular aesthetic procedures done. Technically, it’s known as mammoplasty. It involves the use of either saline or silicone gel implants which are inserted through the armpit, belly button, under the nipple, or under the breast in the fold.

You can expect some swelling and bruising after the procedure, but this will subside and you should be ready to return to work in about a week. Breast augmentation is a safe procedure, but of course, every surgery and post surgery has its risks and with breast implants scar tissue can form, an implant might deflate, or it might dislocate. Those are the most common side effects and they don’t happen all that often.

Besides having your breasts made larger, you can also have your breasts made smaller. With this procedure extra skin and fat are removed from the breast. You might be surprised to discover this procedure is almost as popular as breast implants. We just aren’t ever happy with what we have, and as women, that’s our prerogative.

Breast augmentation is a modern day miracle for the modern day woman.

Beware and Be Aware of Breast Cancer

I'm switching gears a little in speaking about breast cancer, but it is a viable topic as many breast cancer survivors opt for reconstruction with breast implants.

There are many talented plastic surgeons who can closely match a breast implant on one side of your chest to the natural breast on the other side. As there are many cosmetic surgeons have successfully reconstructed both breasts for a survivor wanting to have her womanly figure. Some of the before and after pictures found on the internet of these brave women are truly amazing.

Simply being a woman makes you more prone to breast cancer. As woman have more breast cells than men, these cells get exposed to the growth-promoting effects of female hormones estrogen, thereby, increasing the chances of breast cancer development by 100 times more than men.

However, risk of developing breast cancer increases as you get older. A recent survey conducted indicates that 1 out of 8 women suffering from invasive breast cancer are younger than 45, while the ratio is 2 out of 3 women above 55 and older.

Women who started menstruating at an early age (before 12) or go through menopause at a late age (after 55) have a slightly higher risk of breast cancer.

Risk for breast cancer is increased after menopause for women who are overweight and obese. You do have to exercise ... for your heart, your weight, your bones, and your breasts. Do try to maintain a healthy weight throughout your life by balancing food intake with physical activity and avoid excessive weight gain.

I'm sure you know, the earlier the breast cancer is detected, better are the chances of early recovery. The most important point to remember is that if any significant change such as redness, swelling, development of a lump or mass, skin irritation, nipple pain and discharge other than breast milk occurs, please consult your doctor immediately.

Any changes in how your breasts look and feel should be brought to the notice of a medical professional as early as possible. Not all breast changes are necessarily cancer. Detect early, learn about the disease and protect yourself from being one among the affected.

Are Women Happy After Their Breast Augmentation?

Women that had breast augmentation done were asked to complete a survey about their experience. Ninety-four percent of all women surveyed said they were happy with the procedure and would recommend the procedure to others. That’s an overwhelming positive response - 94% positive!

Cosmetic surgery as a whole has seen become more mainstream, and there’s no question just how important breast augmentation has become. It’s a procedure, which women can use to get the breasts they’ve always wanted, using breast implants. But even if you are sure it’s what you want, there can still be some nervousness and uncertainty.

Knowing that most women who undergo the procedure are happy with the results and would do it all over again certainly does relieve the stress of having the procedure done.

It’s important to note that of the 6% that were not happy with their results, a full 4% did not do their homework and landed up with a surgeon that was not board certified or who had a poor track record.

There are many questions that you should ask. There are also plenty of forums on the internet that can help you with any questions you might have. It’s also a good way to find out about experiences different people have had and learn about the good and bad doctors that are practicing out there.

Every surgery has it’s risks, but breast augmentation has a very low risk factor, with the exception of the silicone problems of the past. This combined with improved services, and pricing, make breast augmentation a wildly popular choice.

Breast Enlargements - 100% Natural!

For British Women there’s soon to be another option for breast enlargements. Soon there will be a new choice in breast implants. New natural enlargements are being done using the woman’s body fat and stem cells. See there really is a use for that body fat you’ve been trying to get rid of!

The technique actually originated in Japan where it was used to create breasts that were much smoother and more natural looking than conventional breast implants had been. This is because the stem cells actually use the fat to be able to grow their own blood supply which then becomes an integral part of the breast rather than just a foreign implant.

Stem cell research although controversial has opened the doors for many procedures. It will be interesting to see if its use in breast enlargement is seen with the same controversy. After all it’s using ones own stem cells.

Trials were conducted in Japan where dozens of women received enlargements, and German, European Union, and British authorities have all given it their approval.

Besides an option for cosmetic surgery, it’s an amazing tool for anyone that has had breast cancer. It is already being used for reconstructive surgery in these countries.

Will this long lasting procedure with no side effects be coming to a North American city near you any time soon? Not likely. The FDA wants to see a lot more studies and tests, but someday we too might be able to enjoy 100% natural breast enlargements from our own stem cells.

Breast Augmentation Methods

Nice and healthy breast is a symbol of femininity. It gives self-reliance and very often invites men attention. These are the main reasons why women resolve to augment their breast and try to find the best way how to do it.

Nowadays there are a variety of breast augmentation methods and each one tries to guarantee the perfect results. Every method tempts with this promise. Let's review some popular breast augmentation ways.

Breast augmentation surgery is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures. Breast augmentation, technically is known as augmentation mammaplasty, is a surgical procedure to augment the size and shape of a woman's breast for a number of reasons:

- to enhance breast of woman, who fells her breast is small;
- to correct a contraction in breast volume after pregnancy;
- to balance a difference in breast size.

There are several types of breast implants that you can choose depending on you finance. Boston breast augmentation is believed in immediate and long-lasting results.

Nonsurgical breast augmentation methods contain a wide variety of options: herbal remedies, pills, creams, and other devices. Many women can not spend much money on surgical breast augmentation, so they choose nonsurgical one, because of some reasons: it's not expensive, has such advantages as lower risk of side effects, natural ingredients, and no convalesce period.

The most popular alternative method to surgical breast enlargement is breast enhancement pills (also known as bust pills). The phytoestrogens (the material that contains pills) stimulate body to produce new breast tissue growth. It's written that woman will see the results after 6-8 weeks, but they may vary due to person body chemistry. Also if you want to reach better results you have to follow all recommendations and take additional pills during 90 days after you get the desired size of your breast. Many internet resources present those pills as reliable method that enhance your breast fast and without any surgical procedure.

Another method is breast enhancement cream. This cream serves much the same purpose as pills; claims made by the manufacturers of breast enhancement cream products state that individuals using the creams can increase their breast by several cup sizes. Most breast enhancement cream ingredients are identical to those of pills and other supplements, but it does not contain as great concentration of active ingredients as the pills.

Breast Augmentation

There are numerous studies to see if the anecdotal claims of women about their silicone implants were verifiable by scientific evidence. These studies have found localized risks associated with all breast implants, but no conclusive evidence to support the claims against implant manufacturers as noted above. Many studies conducted by the Institute of Medicine and other experts have found no connection between implants and the diseases claimed by so many women.

Here is what the Mayo Clinic has to say on their website. "Breast implants don't increase your risk of breast cancer. The IOM reviewed evidence that breast implants don't cause breast cancer or the recurrence of breast cancer. However, it's still essential that you undergo routine screening for breast cancer — breast self-exams, mammograms and clinical breast exams — just as you would if you didn't have implants. Breast implants don't weaken your immune system. When your body detects something foreign in your system, such as a virus or bacteria, it responds by kicking your immune system into high gear. However, the IOM found no evidence to suggest this happens with breast implants. Nor did it find evidence linking implants to any sort of autoimmune or connective tissue disorder. Breast-feeding is safe. If your breast milk has absorbed some of the silicone from the implants, don't worry. Your baby isn't in danger. Because breast milk is the best thing you can feed your baby, the IOM encourages women with implants to breast-feed." Additionally, the American Medical Association reported a Swedish study in February 1998 that there was no link to connective tissue disease.

The FDA has conducted a study where they conclude that extra capsular silicone (from a ruptured implant) can be associated with fibromyalgia. The study relied on a survey of 344 women who filled out surveys asking about their symptoms. Women who reported they had the symptoms were then checked to see if their implants had ruptured. Based on the women reporting symptoms and having ruptured implants, the study assumed a connection. Unfortunately, that is how the plaintiffs prevailed in numerous lawsuits, with no evidence of a cause and effect, just a demonstration of coincidence. More recent studies have also found that women with implants are more likely to commit suicide and more likely to have certain brain cancers. These women might also be more likely to skydive, ride mechanical bulls and bark at the moon but none of the studies showed a cause and effect, just coincidence. Studies have found no link between implants and breast cancer, other than the fact that implants can interfere with detection because of interference with mammography.

Breast Augmentation Photo

More than 150,000 women had breast implant surgery last year; an all-time high. At the same time, the number of teenagers who choose breast implants has more than doubled in the last two years.

And yet, the controversy about breast implants still rages. As is often the case when the media covers medical issues, there are experts on all sides of this issue, and the consumer is left totally confused.

Plastic surgeons claim that breast implants have a very positive impact on a patient’s self-image. It would be easy to study this objectively, by evaluating women’s self-esteem and body image before, after, and several years after getting breast implants. No such study has ever been conducted.

Plastic surgeons claim that breast implants have a very positive impact on a patient’s self-image. It would be easy to study this objectively, by evaluating women’s self-esteem and body image before, after, and several years after getting breast implants. No such study has ever been conducted.

Surveys indicate that when plastic surgeons ask their patients if they are satisfied, most say that they are. However, that is not an objective way to study the impact on breast implants. There is no doubt that some women are very satisfied with their breast implants, but any evaluation of patient satisfaction should be conducted by someone other than the plastic surgeons or their staff. If you want honest and accurate answers, it is important for patients to feel that their answers are anonymous. Since implants are a lifetime commitment, it is also important to study them several years later, since that is when problems become more likely.

From a psychological point of view, improving one’s appearance, with plastic surgery or other means, can help a person feel better about himself or herself. On the other hand, there are individuals who feel unattractive because of a particular physical shortcoming, who then “solve” that problem, and then focus on a different shortcoming.

Did you know that there are several available options when considering a Boston Breast Augmentation? In addition to the obvious option of size, you can choose breast implants that are round or tear drop shaped (with a high, moderate or low profile). The breast implant can be placed above or below the pectoral muscle, and the place where the incision is made can be different as well.
