Breast Augmentation Most Sought Plastic Surgery

Statistics released by the ASAPS show that there were 355,671 breast augmentation procedures performed in the US in 2008, while there were 341,144 liposuction procedures performed. The ASAPS statistics also show that women still seek more cosmetic surgery than men by a large margin, undergoing 92 percent of all cosmetic procedures to the 8 percent undergone by men in 2008.

Economic Downturn = Plastic Surgery?

According to recent study conducted by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, many women are turning to plastic surgery to keep their career edge during this economic downturn.

The ASPS conducted a recent telephone interview of 756 women between the ages of 18 and 64. These women indicated a strong belief that cosmetic improvement through plastic surgery procedures can not only boost self-confidence, but can give that extra edge needed to win jobs,promotions and clients.

According to the study:

*80% of the women polled believed cosmetic procedures offer a self-esteem boost.
*73% believe undergoing cosmetic procedures could help them in their careers.
*13% said they would consider undergoing a cosmetic procedure to improve their competitive edge in the workforce.
*3% said hey have already undergone a cosmetic procedure for career purposes.
